
MobileWorker for eRoom
Monitor and manage your projects and business processes from your iPhone
You travel around a lot and need to access your project and business process information or grant important approvals on the move. The MobileWorker has been specially developed for mobile eRoom access. It loads your eRoom content quickly and clearly onto your iPhone. Besides giving you read access to all your eRoom content, the new MobileWorker also lets you read Office documents and PDFs, add comments, grant approvals, and mark tasks as completed.
Overview of Functions
MobileWorker is designed similarly to eRoom with which you are already familiar. However, to give you a better overview, we have integrated a number of additional features specifically designed for mobile access.
Dashboard: Everything at a Glance
- The dashboard is your homepage. It provides fast and easy access to all your current and important work data. You decide what’s important for you by adding elements to your favorites. Based on these favorites, tasks and approvals are automatically listed in their respective areas where you can edit them directly. All favorites are synchronized on the iPhone and can be read and edited at all times, even in flight mode.
- The total number of existing elements is shown in the overview together with the total number of new, unread items.
- If you want to access another eRoom element, you can browse your rooms quite normally. Simply go to your ‘My eRoom Page’ via your ‘Site’ and then choose the room you require.
‘My eRoom Page’: Just like You’re Used To
- This page is your personal ‘My eRoom Page’ delivered to you by your eRoom server. It lists all your rooms.
- The individual settings of your ‘My eRoom Page,’ including your personal headings plus the order of your rooms, are also downloaded automatically from the server. This allows you to find your way around quickly and easily.
Room: All the Facts at Your Fingertips
- When you enter a room, a list of all eRoom elements that are located at the top level in the room appears. Project status and comments are also displayed.
- A new feature of the MobileWorker is a list of all unread elements in a room. You can access these elements directly via the room’s homepage.
- All elements in an eRoom, such as folders, files, discussions, databases, project plans and notes, can be opened for read access and viewed.
- You are given the option to grant approvals, check off tasks, and add comments.
- All elements can be marked as favorites. These are stored locally and can be read offline at all times, even in flight mode.
- The ‘read’ and ‘unread’ status is displayed and synchronized with the server data.
- In a room, you can return to the dashboard via the shortcut menu, update elements with the server, open a specific element directly in the integrated Internet browser, add it to your favorites or send the element by e-mail to a person of your choice.
Favorites: Designed to Keep You Up to Date
- Use the shortcut menu in a room to mark any eRoom element as a favorite. This gives you fast access to elements via the dashboard and allows you to spot any changes immediately.
- All elements in your ‘favorites’ are automatically analyzed and categorized as tasks and approvals, and are added to the dashboard.
- Your favorites and all sub-elements are automatically stored locally on your iPhone so that you can continue to work and access your favorites while on the move, for example, during a flight.
Tasks: Completed Quickly and Easily
- The dashboard gives you access to all your open tasks, provided these have been previously added to your favorites.
- A simple tap of your finger is all it takes to mark a task as completed. All completed tasks are then automatically removed from the list during the next synchronization.
- The due date of overdue tasks is shown in red to make it easier to prioritize quickly.
Approvals: Make Decisions on the Move
- The dashboard gives you access to all your outstanding approvals from eRoom databases, provided these have been previously added to your favorites.
- A simple tap of your finger is all that is required to confirm an approval. Once an approval has been granted, a ‘thumbs-up’ symbol appears. The approval is automatically removed from the list during the next synchronization.
- If an approval has to be confirmed by other people, the approval remains in the list and is displayed with the ‘thumbs-down’ symbol. The symbol only changes to a ‘thumbs-up’ symbol after all the relevant people have granted their approval.
- To facilitate quick orientation, the associated approval step is also displayed. Overdue approvals are displayed in red to make it easier to prioritize quickly.
Security:
- A personal identification number (PIN) may be used to provide greater access protection
- Secure server login using personal eRoom login data
Requirements
- iPhone iOS4 or higher
- eRoom Version 7.x
- Valid User Account for eRoom
- Activated eRoom XML interface: ‘Allow eRoom XML queries and commands from external applications’ – eRoom standard function If in doubt, please consult your eRoom administrator or the person responsible for collaboration in your IT department.
